Discovery

Fill my heart with this feeling
That encaptures the broken pieces.
I saw the clash of contraries,
A melding not mixing
Of the light and dark;
A powerful symphony.

Hollow and content,
Wandering till twilight
Hoping the answers will suffice.
Beautiful, as it wrecks the cynic;
What am I to make of existence?

Poet’s Note: Have you ever been stuck in crossroads due to simple choices? While there is white, black and grey, I feel like I’m often stuck in blue, locking myself out of everything. Or maybe just barricading myself inside? Oh well.

Mood music: Ben Howard – In dreams

Yearning

Wandering, this summer
She spent wavering.

This city is a mystery
That I cannot fathom;
It’s a breath of fresh air
And turmoil at heart,
It’s like his touch leading you
While his mind is afar.

A clash of the past and the present,
Her mind is yearning
While the numbness haunts
Her reasoning.
Do you roll with it or
Do you walk away?
Do you shun yourself
Or do you shut you pace?
Tell me,
Should I listen to you,
Or will the whispers win today?

City of brotherly love,
The place where her
Heart went astray.

Poet’s note: Is it just me or do people tend to have more flings during the summer? Do you restrict yourself too much? I think I’m finally giving myself a pass to explore beyond the restrictions that I placed on myself.

Journey

Like the wind blowing
Throughout the year,
We change our tides, failing
And fairing; to never disappear
Into the abyss
That we, oh so fear.
In the darkness within the depths,
And the light past the distress,
We dance in the rain,
Even when gloom remains.

Still.
We strive; humans so turbulent,
Yet we rise,
Past the blunders and the beasts
That haunt our time.

The journey in the dark,
The journey to steer
Between the narrow
Wisps of hope; blues
Reds and green,
And everything in between
Melds with my
Metallic skin.

The past, so slow to fade,
Yet the future,
Glows.
Are you awake?

Poet’s Note: What are the demons that haunt you now? Have you ever dealt with something that tore you apart, but built you at the same time? It is not always rosy, and sometimes it is downright shitty. But we, humans, we persevere. That’s what I think. Good evening!

Randomness

A rift, ever so small
That can uplift,
Or let you down.
A momentary impact
To change the tides,
A monumental moment
That can change
Your time. As we wander
Past the black and white,
The grey gracefully
Pounces into your life.

Poet’s note: Have you ever experienced momentary happiness when you were down in the dumps? A simple act that may help you perserve might indeed be a random one.

The Lady

Mood music (Tamil): Enna Solla Pogirai (Meaning: What are you going to say?) from Kandukondain Kandkondain (I have seen, I have seen)

A beginning with no end,
The tantalizing promise
In the midst of this maze,
With your words
Barricading the space,
She’s caught. For now.
Forever, the northern wind,
Ready to storm away.

Wind the flow of time,
The lady remains.
A soothing lullaby plays,
And she lies
Beneath the silver lining.
The clouds pass
And the flower turn bright,
The hues
Burst through her turbulent plight.

°

Poet’s Note: What inspires you, dear reader? Its stormy in Philadelphia today, and I’m listening to an old, romantic Tamil song from 18 years ago. I find myself drawn to melodies that are not so melancholy during the storm, and hype music (especially by Yuki Hayashi) when night arrives. It’s a wonderfully weird combination, that thrives on the opposites. Do you feel the same way? Good morning!

Missy

Mood music: Yuri on Ice by Taro Umebayashi

It’s okay, it’s okay,
Dearest mine,
So what if it dies out,
So what if it changes,
So what if it’s the rage of angels,
So what if the tide rages?
A sweet memory, beneath the sunshine;
She lies down with the starlight,
Mildew of midnight, and the
Mist will clear out, alright!

The girl from the dark,
Rose from the past,
So it’s fine.
There will be
Another time.
Be strong sweetheart,
You’re neither a coward
Nor a shadow that never lasts.

Poet’s note: Have you ever had a moment or moments in your life, that changes you as a person? They are like the clouds, ever so persistent, ever evolving, and constantly moving. I hope you guys still know that you’re loved, somewhere by someone and that there is always hope, even when the situation is dire.

Good night! ♡

Repetition

Waltzing in the shadows,
We twirl to this
Momentary symphony.

One foot in the past,
Another stuck in the future;
A cascade of lies
Maligned by the excessive truth.

So clear, yet so far,
Times change,
But the heart remains
In tattered parts – so
She goes back to
Stand by the the Aster,
Hoping one day
She will find her.
But for now,
As unfair as life maybe,
Because the nightshades
State it so bluntly,
It’s time to let it go.

Precarious

A chaotic statis,
In the tranquil mayhem.
A stronghold,
Ever so bound.

With breathless silence,
Still, we watch on –
The moment suspended and
Passing between the spaces
Between the million faces,
The wanderer remains
Still.

A wishful comfort,
With trepidation at large;
A lingering truce,
While the reverberations last.

Author’s Note: Time and time again, I am reminded that life is rather precarious. Everything can change within seconds, and so, every second is precious. How do you make a difference in your tiny corner? How do you make a difference within yourself? We may be, but a tiny speckle in the universe or in the grand scheme of things. But as my favorite fictional character said: there is no one in this world who isn’t important. So, how are you today?

The song of winter

A symphony of
Joy and sorrow;
A blend
With a hope for ‘morrow,
The harshest winds
And the pandering pain
Pulverized, the moment
You gaze into the
The fog
That subdues the planes.
For a little while,
The tainted,
With the innocence of the snow
Shall rise – to live on another day.
